NAVAGRAGAM TEMPLE TRIP DAY 2

Day 2 was the best day we got lot of time to relax since all the temples where around kumbakonam and the climate in the morning climate was very good. We left our hotel room at 6.40 (we should have left early) Finished our breakfast at kumbakonam. We left first to guru temple which is located 17km from kumbakonam in town called alangudi. The temple is very old and maintained well to certain extent. We spent some time here and we left for the suriyan and sukran temple both of them are in the same stretch.
Suriyan temple: We with the help of some help where able to get a person in the temple to tell about the temple, this is what we got to learn: the temple was 1500 years old and only temple to have all the navagragams, any wish of us will come true when we pray with full heart in 48 days they will give a small colored cloth while praying in the temple and we have to wear it around our neck. After worshiping all the gods we should remove it and tie it on the plant if we wish to get married or keep the cloth in our pooja room for blessings.  After worshiping all the gods we were asked to worship the vinayagar even while going out and told it was good to go around the temple 9 times.
Sukran temple was little further down the same road and it was far more simple and little less crowded than suriyan. This temple too was 1500 years old and had lot of tales about each idols. Some of the idols have a history in this temple, a good simple temple. After an hour of spending time at this –place we left at 12.30.
Raghu temple: It was very late after 1.00 pm it seems the temple closes, so we left to the hotel to visit Raghu at 4.30. Because it is the most ideal time for abishekam for raghu and its advisable to go there by 3.30. The temple is located near kumbakonam so we started at 3.30 from hotel and reached the temple by 4.00 pm. Even at that time the queue for raghu temple is completely filled. The hundred rupees ticket which was for one person was completely filled and the only ticket that was free was 500 Rs ticket which allows two people. The benefit of 500 rs ticket is that we were allowed very close to the Raghu idol, the abishekam was done in front of us, with a person asking us to chant manthras for the benefit of us and cure all our problems.
One other special thing in Raghu temple is that Inside the temple where other Gods are present, there is a Amman temple named burayanae aman, where I gave 10 rs and got back 1 rs and was told to keep it in the pooja room for good finances, something unexpected.
Chandran temple which is very far from Kumbakonam is the last temple we visited; it was very small temple in large village. The day we went there the gods where decorated in beautiful silver covering. They do this only on weekends and on Friday, But one thing about chandran temple is it Is open and it can get real hot in day and walking around might be little difficult. We reached the temple At 7.30 pm and the floor was still hot. So going at nit or early morning to chandran temple is advisable.
